05.28.16 – Erykah Badu and Ro James Perform at the Arena Theater
Erykah Badu: May 28th, 2016 – Houston, TX
After a long absence four hours south of her hometown, Erykah Badu came to Houston for a two night set along with Ro James. Though his set was short, Ro James definitely is building his fan base and had a few of his die hards in the building. After an intermission where DJ Young Streets played everything that encapsulates hip Hip’s glory days, it was time for Ms Badu to take the stage.
Erykah Badu is constantly evolving and expanding the concept of herself as an artist. Throughout much of the show she was stationary at the microphone, taking full advantage of the rotating Arena Theater Stage. The underlighting she was bathed in added to the aura of her storytelling through song. Two hours of her classics, personal remixes, and some new work filled the audience ears with her wit, artistry, joy, and pain; while still leaving them wanting more.
